In fall of 2021 the City applied for a grant under the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP). This application was to construct not just a replacement for the Arena that burned down in the summer of 2021, but to develop a multi-purpose facility that could provide enhanced programming and services to the community and surrounding region. We received official grant approval in fall of 2022 and are moving forward with this once in a generation project.

The Design-Build contract was awarded to Quorex Construction on April 24, 2023.

Council approved including the Field House in the scope of the project (adding an extra $9.5 million to the overall project budget) on May 8, 2023.

Construction is now underway!

The goal of the project is substantial completion of the arena by February 2025, and the rest of the facility by March 31, 2025.
