    We are pleased to inform residents that our application has been formally approved under the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program (PDAP) for the heavy rain and plow wind storm on July 18.

    This approval opens access to provincial financial recovery assistance for property owners, renters, small business owners, and non-profit organizations who suffered uninsurable property damage from the storm.

    PDAP is a secondary financial assistance program designed to help restore property and principal residences to pre-disaster condition when insurance coverage is unavailable. Under provincial regulations, property owners must first file a claim through their private insurance provider to obtain a formal written letter detailing their coverage or stating that the specific loss is denied.

    Guidelines & Application Forms

    Residents are strongly encouraged to review the official PDAP guidelines directly before applying to ensure their losses qualify under provincial rules.

    Physical copies of the general guidelines and the application form are also available for pick-up at City Hall during regular business hours (M-F 8:30AM-4:30PM) and at the August 18 in-person application support session.

    Application Deadline

    Provincial guidelines mandate that all completed application packages must be submitted directly to PDAP within six months of the event start date. The strict submission deadline for this event is January 19, 2027.

    To assist community members in reviewing provincial criteria and navigating the application process, city staff will be hosting a drop-in support session:

    • Time: 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM
    • Location: Council Chambers, City Hall (in the Co-op Centre at 506 3rd Street East )

    Updates will continue to be posted on Your Meadow Lake each week. Residents are encouraged to fill out a Damage Reporting Form if they have not done so already to report your damages to the City.

    At a Special Council Meeting held at 12:10PM on July 22, 2026, City Council passed a resolution directing City Administration to apply for designation under the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program (PDAP) for the severe storm and flooding on July 18 and 19, 2026.

    Our application is currently pending provincial review. Nothing has been approved yet, and local claims cannot be processed until the province grants official approval.

    WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW RIGHT NOW:

    • Contact Your Insurance First: PDAP only covers uninsurable losses. You must contact your insurance provider to start a claim. If the City’s PDAP application is approved, you will need a formal letter from your insurer stating what your policy does and does not cover.
    • Document Everything: Take photos and videos of all damage before cleaning up. Keep detailed logs of cleanup hours and equipment used, and save every receipt and invoice.
    • Hold Off on Major Repairs: Completing major structural or foundation repairs before an official program adjuster inspects your property could impact your eligibility for funding.

    • Take pictures and videos, and keep samples of damaged items
    • If needed for safety, start cleanup and minor emergency repairs to prevent further damage.
    • Document all cleanup and repair efforts, keeping track of hours worked and equipment used.
    • Keep all invoices, receipts, and proof of payments

    Note: If disaster financial assistance programs are activated, a qualified professional may be assigned directly by that program to inspect major/structural damage. Completing major repairs before further program details are released could impact your eligibility for assistance.

    We are working as quickly as possible to establish support programs. More information will be shared as it becomes available.
